Slovak National Centre for Human Rights, together with the EU Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) and the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions (ENNHRI) and six other EU Member States, is implementing a regional project entitled Supporting National Human Rights Institutions in monitoring fundamental rights and the fundamental rights aspects of the rule of law. On 7 December 2023 we prepared a workshop on the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights for NGOs and other institutions protecting human rights. The Centre has been actively involved in the universal periodic review process (UPR) within its monitoring activities in relation to implementation of human rights commitments by the Slovak Republic. UPR is a unique UN mechanism monitoring implementation of human rights obligations of the UN member states, which involves periodic peer review of all 193 UN member states. It is a universal procedure covering all areas of human rights irrespective of thematic focus.

Under its mandate as an NHRI, the Centre conducts monitoring of implementation of international human rights instruments in the Slovak Republic. The Centre regularly submits alternative reports to the human rights monitoring mechanisms that monitor implementation of the core international human rights treaties by State parties and their obligations and address recommendations to improve the human rights situation in Slovakia.

On 6 July 2023, representatives of the Centre participated in a discussion organized by the Representation of the European Commission in Slovakia to present the 2023 Rule of Law Report, which the European Commission publishes annually in July.
