On Monday 15 May 2023, we met with representatives of the World Justice Project, who asked us to provide expert advice on the development of the Conceptual Framework on the European Union Subnational Justice, Governance and Rule of Law Indicators.

WJP is an independent, multidisciplinary organization that conducts independent research on various aspects of the rule of law worldwide, and their current project focuses on the perceptions of justice, governance and the rule of law by EU citizens at a subnational level. Its results will benefit policy makers, civil society organizations, academia, media and others. Our role in the preparatory process was to provide expert insight on the choice of indicators, the theoretical conceptual framework and practical aspects related to data collection.

At the same time, we also talked to WJP representatives about our Rule of Law tracker project, which the Centre launched at the end of last year. As experts with rich experience in developing methodologies for monitoring tools, we were extremely pleased that the experts from WJP appreciated the developed conceptual framework and methodology as well as the Rule of Law tracker and found it a useful tool that allows to monitor and evaluate the state of the rule of law in Slovakia in a simple accessible way and thus brings the topic of the rule of law closer to the general public in an innovative way.
